Moxie is the first of twin records: Frost & Moxie, or ‘treat a queen like a whore and a whore like a queen’. Moxie is the unapologetic whore. From the plaintive cry of tattered Dame Alley Cat, Mehitabel in Sweet & Low Down to the near Crazy Cock madness of Molotov Cocktail, the piss and pop vinegar of House That Built Itself to the unabashed bedroom voice of Whiskey & Sin and Friendliest Room In Town, or the steamy summer jam Belly.
Produced by Bill Readey at Fuzzy Rainbow Production, Moxie takes Daphne’s beloved traditional southern roots sounds and runs them through megaphones, mellotron, a very old tube amp, a swamp and a dark alley or two. As always, the lyrics are fermented and distilled in a bathtub full of misfit Interbellum prose.

Special guests on this record include Daphne’s full band Raise the Rent as well as heavy hitters John Panos (Mates of State), Matt Lindauer (Sugarbat), Eric Stevenson (Pocket Vinyl), Milksop:Unsung, Matt Thomas (M.T.Bearington), Sam Perduta (Elison Jackson) and Erik Elligers (Goodnight Blue Moon).
