XANVALA is a visual kei band from Tokyo. The band formed in 2019 and consists of vocalist Tatsumi (巽), guitarists Yuhma and Souma (宗馬), bassist 70. and drummer Tomoya(知哉). They are all previous members from LIM and CULA, with Tatsumi and Souma coming from LIM while Yuhma, 70. and Tomoya came from CULA. XANVALA is part of the loud kei subgenre, where their music blends intense, aggressive sounds with the expressive aesthetics characteristic of visual kei.

XANVALA originated from the session band SCALA, which was formed in May 2019. After several performances, including one alongside the band VIRGE (ヴァージュ) at Takadanobaba AREA, SCALA concluded with its final performance in December 2019 at Shinjuku ReNY. Shortly after, the group transitioned into the formal band XANVALA, with a name symbolizing perseverance and resilience, derived from the Japanese term “zanbara,” referring to the messy hair of sumo trainees before they can grow the traditional bun.

The band debuted with a one-man live at Ikebukuro BlackHole in January 2020, releasing their first single Azayakana Moudoku (鮮やかな猛毒) soon after. Despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, including several postponed shows, XANVALA continued to release music, such as the singles CREEPER and Bunmei Kaika (文明開花) in 2020. In July 2020, they also released a best-of collection titled Riku Juusou (陸重奏), followed by their limited oneman tour WAY OF LIVE.

In the following years, XANVALA remained active with live performances and collaborations, including notable twoman shows with bands such as Kane to Juusei (鐘ト銃声) in February 2023 and with MATENROU OPERA (摩天楼オペラ) in June 2023.
