Avery Tucker (born August 20, 1995) is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Formerly known as one half of the indie duo Girlpool, Tucker is now pursuing a solo career. Girlpool, formed in 2013 with Harmony Tividad, became known for its intimate harmonies, sparse arrangements, and emotionally direct songwriting, gradually expanding into a broader palette of indie rock, dream pop, and experimental textures across albums such as Before the World Was Big (2015), What Chaos Is Imaginary (2019), and Forgiveness (2022). Tucker’s coming out as a trans man in 2017 marked a turning point both personally and musically, shaping the themes of identity, change, and self-discovery that run through his later work.

As a solo artist, Tucker is preparing the release of his debut album Paw (2025), which embraces a distinctly country-folk and country-rock sound while maintaining the raw emotional honesty of his earlier music. Inspired by artists such as Gillian Welch and Emmylou Harris, the record explores themes of love, grief, identity, and devotion with stripped-back arrangements and a focus on storytelling. Tucker has described the project as a return to the immediacy of his earliest songwriting, seeking to capture the unpolished intimacy of recording alone and sharing music in its most vulnerable form.
