Three Artists:

1).Black Ash was part of the early 1990's rave scene. The music had a huge underground following.


2).Black Ash is a German Reggae band from the Ruhrgebiet area.

Since their beginnings in 1999, the band line-up has seen a lot of changes, but the general tone and style of their music has remained consistent. Their main influences are the classic Jamaican artists, along the lines of Sly & Robbie or Peter Tosh. The band name derives from the Sly and the Revolutionaries' album "Black Ash".

In 2005 they released their first, self-produced album entitled "Babylon Backlash".

Most of their songs deal with current political and social issues, like the War in Iraq (Abu Ghoraib, City of Basrah) or the decline of the German welfare state ("Help from your state").

The band also has a reputation for their cleverly arranged cover songs - among them reggaefied versions of Sweet Dreams, Keine Macht für niemand or the "Monkey Island" Theme song.
