emcdouble (eeh-ehm-see-dubbel) also known as edub, was born David Mayan on July 25th, 1986 in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey. His mother is Millie Mayan, father is Jose Mayan. He has two siblings, two older sisters (Betty and Monica Mayan). David went to Linden High School (Linden, NJ), then got jumped over a rap battle he won when he was a Junior (David was a prolific battle rapper). He then got suspended for fighting back, and went to St. Mary's in Elizabeth, NJ for one year. He then got kicked out with 5 months left to go to graduate senior year, then went to and graduated from Elizabeth High School in 2004. Later in 2004, he moved to Spain.

In 2005, he recorded his first album "No Parental Advisory. Just My License." David sent that release via mail to many radio stations and labels worldwide. That release was subsequently played on the radio in England (BBC One) and Hot 97 in New York. In 2006, David dropped his second studio album titled "The Infection" with hits such as "I'm Back" and "In the End".

In 2007, "The Masterpiece" was released. He then moved to England in 2008 (Sutton, Surrey) for two years. He then returned to the New Jersey (United States) in 2010.

From then, emcdouble took a break from pursing the dream to focus on work and family. In 2012 and 2013, he released singles "R.I.P. (feat iSo)" and "Chillin'".

In 2018 David got married to Gabriela Bogado. In 2019 David moved with his wife to Queens, New York. In 2022 he welcomed his first son "Xander Mayan" to the world, then musically, he came back with a vengeance and started making waves in underground hiphop, aiming for mainstream success that is definitely in his grasp at the moment.

He released acclaimed studio album "El Gringo" on December 16th, 2022. It was his fourth studio album. On this release, he proves that emcdouble aka edub is one to be reckoned with. To help with this task, edub reached out to fellow industry artists to feature a few hiphop heavy weights. From the start, "El Gringo" comes hard, with a feature from veteran Copywrite on the second track of the album, "I'm Back II". Appearing alongside emcdouble on "Street Thingz" is hiphop heavyweight "Sticky Fingaz" from the critically acclaimed group "Onyx". On track number 10 we can find Killah Priest alongside emcdouble and KAY AY on "So Good". He has been mastering his craft for years and has been breaking through, especially in over seas markets. Singles from "El Gringo" like "Bajalo" are hits in Spain and Latin-America on radio stations. "Corny" featuring Zamar Choir (a South African Church Choir) & Voyage is a song with a strong message that is another international hit on multiple radio stations.

In 2023, he partnered up with Joell Ortiz to release "Stop" a reminder why New York is not to be messed with, "Y'all aint shit" with Benny The Butcher, as well as singles with Avery Storm and Kiffie (R&B and Electronica artists respectively). Over the summer/fall of 2023 emcdouble will be releasing singles with: Boosie Badazz, Conway The Machine, Tragedy Khadafi, and Stunna 4 Vegas, respectively.
