Contrabande is a French-Danish jazz quintet - its music is between jazz and new classical music. Many pieces are based on complex contemporary writing processes, leaving a large place for free collective improvisations.

soprano, alto and bass clarinets - composer
Studied in Caen Conservatory in classical music and jazz. Then worked on improvised music. Plays in many bands amongst others : I N Fused, Rude Awakening, SAP(e), duet with Patrice Soletti. Often plays for contemporary dance.

Kristoffer J. Rosing-Schow - Danish
soprano and alto sax, flute - composer
Studied at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. Also studied in Paris and Tanzania.
Plays amongst other with Saxopath, Strange Party Orchestra, Kashmir and released several records.
Also plays for Film and Theater.

Patrice Soletti - French
Guitar - composer
Studied at Evry Conservatory in Jazz class. Won many prices amongst other : Django Reinhardt price 1995, Concours Iles de France 1996.
Plays and composes for dance and theater.
Worked in cooperation with Barre Phillips.

Kare Elers - Danish
Drums
Studied with the Royal Musician Ole Pedersen
Have played with Pierre Dorge, Per Nogaard, Axel Borup Jorgensen, Jan Kaspersen.
A lot of compostions for dance and theater.
Leader of Strange Party Orchestra which have released several albums.


Eric Chalan - French
Doublebass
Studied at Versailles and Avignons conservatories.
Have played with many orchestra in Metz, Paris, Nancy...
Plays with Pierre Boulez, David Robertson, Jonathan Nott.
Numerous recordings amongst other : "Pli selon Pli" with Pierre Boulez (Deutsche grammophon) , "Eclipse" with yan Maresz (universal)
