"It all began in the spring/summer of the boys freshman year in high school (thats 2004 to you kids) when one mister patrick bright and mister derek lomibao began a friendship that will hopefully last for eternity. pat began playing the drums in 1999 when he recieved a set for a christmas present, however the set gathered dust until around 2003 when he began to gain more interest in beating things. derek started playing guitar around the eighth grade but really took interest when he and pat began to jam.
freshman year derek and pat shared 5 classes together and shared with each other an interest in music, discussing bands and genres and their own endeavours in the musical world. these discussions soon led to jam sessions between derek and pat in pat's basement, around the summer of that first year kyle dunn joined in on the fun with the boys. kyle played "bass" on pats electric guitar, only playing the lowest four strings. the guys played crappily written songs or ramones covers (badly i might add) and just had a good time messing around, like most young bands in the area.
it was around late november of 2004 that chris davies joined the band. chris began playing the bass guitar in 2002 and moved to the guitar in 2003, chris joined the band as a guitarist, singer and primary songwriter. songwriting was an almost foreign concept to the band when chris came along, but with his guitar riffs and lyrics the band took shape and ditched the name "a so called band" for the more suitable "maximo." the band took form and began their rise from that point on.
in the spring of 2005, the bands repertiore ranging about 3 or 4 songs by this point, john norcross and jared shmikler joined the band, john singing and jared playing lead guitar, derek moved to keyboards. The band played their first show together at a friends going away party to a crowd of about 30 people in a grade school. the set was mediocre but pretty good for a first show, with a jury rigged p-a and a total lack of acoustics. the boys began to write more, chris still churning out guitar lines and john contributing some lyrics to compliment chris's, and soon they were playing more shows and recording songs for their album.
after about 5 shows john and jared quit, the decision was made by them and was sad but accepted and put in the past. the band went back to their original lineup, chris singing and playing guitar, derek playing guitar, kyle playing bass, and pat drumming. the band has since made the desicion to put most of their older songs for newer more developed music, a few old songs still make the cut for the band however. the band is still recording for their first album which they would like to complete by the spring of 2006. playing live shows is important to the band but has been put on the backburner for the time being, they will of course still play live shows just not in massive amounts." courtesy Maximo's myspace.
