Francis van Broekhuizen started her singingcareer at the age of 15. Her first private singing lessons she got in The Haque from the Bulgarian Soprano Dobrinka Yankova. In1997 Francis started at the "conservatorium van Amsterdam" with the British Countertenor Kevin Smith.

In 2002 Francis graduated cum laude . From 2002 untill 2004 Francis studied at the "De Nieuwe Opera Academie" at Amsterdam and The Haque. During this Master education she had singing lessons with the famous mezzo- Soprano Cora Canne Meijer.

Francis sang at DNOA the following parts: First lady / Die Zauberflöte – Mozart, Quartilla / Satyricon – Maderna, Pastourelle / l’Enfant et les sortileges – Ravel, Anezka / Dve Vdovy- Smetana, La Baronne de Gondremarck / La vie Parisienne – Offenbach.

During her period at Opera Zuid in Maastricht she sung the parts of: Hanna Glawari in Die Lustige Witwe – Lehar, Strange Princess in Rusalka – Dvorak, Michaela in Carmen – Bizet, Suor Angelica and Nella in Il trittico – Puccini And Cendrillon in Cendrillon – Massenet.

At Opera Spanga she sang the part of Leporella in Donna Giovanna, an adaptation of Mozarts Don Giovanni. And last year she sang the title role in Elektra by Richard Strauss.

Besides singing in opera, Francis is also busy doing song-repertoire together with Femke de Graaf. They are specialised in Romantic Song-repertoire. Since 2003 they are members of "Vereniging Vrienden van het Lied" and give concerts trough the Netherlands. Read more on Last.fm.
