VIS Idoli (often only Idoli) was a New-Wave / Pop-Art band, officially founded on 1st of March 1980 in Belgrade, Serbia (than part of SFR Yugoslavia)

The line-up included three primary school friends: Vlada Divljan, Zdenko Kolar, and drummer Boža Jovanović as well as Divljan's high school friends Srđan Šaper and Nebojša Krstić. The band played their first gig in 1980 in Belgrade’s SKC (Student Cultural Centre), where they performed together with the leading bands of Belgrade's new wave scene.

Džuboks (=The Jukebox) magazine's critics declared Idoli the band of the year in 1982, and seven other European music magazines placed them fourth on the best-of rock bands list. In years that followed, many critics chose their album, "Odbrana i poslednji dani" (tran. The Defense and the Last Days), as the best ever record released in former Yugoslavia. The single "Retko te viđam sa devojkama" was the first mainstream gay-themed song from the Balkans.

After performing in Ljubljana, in March 1984, due to conflicts between the members, the band ceased to exist. The last Idoli release was a soundtrack for the movie Šest dana juna directed by Dinko Tucaković. Most of the soundtrack was written by Divljan, while other members took part in the recording process. Šaper did the vocals, Kolar and Isaković did the bass.
