The story of the band Y-NOT?! is a rock n roll drama that continues to have their potent mix of melody and unmistakable voice stand out among those filling the airwaves. The style and substance of the band has always created a special connection with its audience as it showcases a wonderful ability to make sure no one stands still. Y-NOT?! has often been heralded as one of the most vibrant and poignant bands to come out of the Mid-Atlantic music scene.

The band continues to evolve and search for new musical horizons as they are currently writing songs for a brand new album being released on Realize Records. The band began their career on the college campus of Salisbury University and found themselves quickly as a main attraction in the nearby beach tourist town of Ocean City, MD. From then on fans frenetically battled for dance space in venues from Manhattan to the Carolinas. Y-NOT?! was among an endangered breed of musicians, as it is often difficult to consistently lure fans to hear new and original music. The band eventually took it a step beyond as they earned critical acclaim and lifelong fans for their captivating live performances.

In the summer of 1992 Y-NOT?! released their debut album, A Thrilled Voice, on Marquis Records with distribution through Sony/Relativity. The delightfully successful release allowed the band to headline bills and garner slots on some of the biggest festivals including the HFStival, DC101 Chili Cookoff and the Preakness Festival. The band was also able to share the stage with such acts as The Fixx, The Dave Matthews Band and 311.

After two years of touring behind ATV, the first lineup change took place and a new four piece emerged. The Y-NOT?! cast has been as diverse as its craft but has always been united thru sheer strength along with singer Paul Lewis' rich chords and kinetic stage show. For rock bands, lineup changes can often provide a renewed enthusiasm and a new aesthetic. But even in the best circumstances, they can also be difficult, resulting in growing pains and frequently, a learning curve that must be navigated to continue to move forward.

After several years of touring and a few more changes, the band decided to take time apart from one another and finally pursue other interests. Paul moved to Los Angeles where he recorded his first solo album, Get On With It, and helped launch the independent record label Realize Records. Paul re-established himself as a perennial songwriter and received brilliant reviews for his debut solo effort.

In 2005 members of Y-NOT?! returned to the studio with their longtime frontman to record the album Trading Horror Stories. This marked a new evolution in the band's history, blending a familiar sound with a fresh, compelling, modern feel. The first single “Original Sin” received steady airplay from commercial and college radio.

Live, in concert, the band delivers that same high-energy show fans have come to expect, providing a genuine experience including the band's dynamic stage presence and sound. The band is refreshed and rebooted, with new band members in tow to help to add to an already formidable list of achievements. Y-NOT?! are primed to again take the stage and give fans all they could ever want. Superb arrangements and thought provoking music, leaving listeners feeling like they just tasted a bit of the past and future of post modern music.
