Shadow Pilot, a downtempo creation of sibling duo Joe and Alaina Ferris, combines contemporary hypnotic sounds with 1990s trip-hop themes . Shadow Pilot’s first public release of Long Days is heard as a remix on rapper Somobe’s album, “The Great Communication.” Shadow Pilot’s current album, “2AM,”was mixed and co-produced by Danny Saber and released in Fall 2011.

Joe has been producing music for 12 years, and is known for creating music that leave listeners saying, “I can’t get that song out of my head.” Drawing on his early love for piano creations, he blends genres ranging from Electronic, Hip Hop and even cinematic orchestral scores. Composers that influenced Joe include Danny Elfman, James Horner and Jerry Goldsmith, and also Electronic groups like Massive Attack and The Chemical Brothers.

Alaina Ferris draws on her formal training and exposure at Denver’s Lamont School of Music where she studied jazz theory and composition. Musicians that have influenced Alaina include Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Tori Amos, Josephine Baker and Edith Piaf. Alaina’s interpretive styling reflects her love of poetry (she also holds a degree in Creative Writing).
