Bio:
The Drownout formed in the summer of 2005 in a two-car garage that was attached to the downtown Atlanta house in which frontman Jason Jones lived. Almost immediately, they began work on material for what would become their debut work, In Flagrante Delicto. Jones served as the producer and engineer on the album, recording and mixing it in his spare time at Sonica Recording where he was employed at the time. In Flagrante was released in 2006 and was generally well-received by critics and fans alike.

The Drownout began an intense string of touring to support the album, traveling the east coast and playing regular shows across the southeast. They also released the single, “Kaleidoscope,” which was put in cross-country rotation on college and commercial radio stations such as Atlanta’s 99X and 105.3 The Buzz. A music video for “Kaleidoscope” (produced by Turner Broadcasting’s David Hahn) was recorded and received regular airplay on several cable networks. Additionally, segments from the video were prominently used in regional Comcast advertisements through 2008.

After a few lineup changes and a second east coast tour, The Drownout participated in and won the 2007 99x Last Band Standing competition. The early part of 2008 was spent recording the band’s first EP, entitled Paper Trails and Binds, which was released September 2008, again to positive reviews. The album has received airplay on Atlanta’s Project 96.1 and a live video performance is scheduled to air on Fox’s Fearless Music television program. Recently, the band set out on a third major tour of the east coast, finishing up with a successful CD release show in Atlanta. In early December of 2008, as a testament to their burgeoning popularity, the band was tapped to open for The Sounds. The Drownout is currently continuing to tour the southeast in support of the new EP.
