Collaboration between producers is almost a given within small scenes – and Bristol, with its close-knit musical community, is particularly rich for it. But while some of the city’s best recent releases have come from well-matched pairings – Hyetal and Peverelist’s astral "The Hum"; Appleblim and Al Tourettes’ pitch-black "Lipsmacker" – few have sounded as well integrated as Appleblim and October’s new collaborative project. Released on the city’s new Schmorgasbord label, an outfit which aims to bring together interesting combinations of producers for each new 12”, it sees the duo craft two very different tracks which nonetheless retain the hallmarks of each producer’s own work.
