Harp & The Soul Disciples is an urban gospel group comprised of four (4) siblings, a niece, and a cousin; namely, Lavonda, Vincent, Paris, Rico & Zionde Harper and James Strother. They all were born and raised in Columbia, SC. Under the leadership of their parents, Deacon Melvin Harper, Jr. & Elder Margaret Harper, they were taught the Word of God, and exposed to the reality of God’s existence at a very young age. They grew up being involved in weekly Sunday services, Prayer Services, and Bible Study. In addition, they have participated on the Youth Choir, Usher Board, and Praise Team.

Having come from a family of talented singers, Harp & The Soul Disciples emerged while singing quartet music when Paris (leader) was six (6) years old. After their debut, the group was asked to appear on many local quartet programs. Because of their young ages and the strength of their voices, their popularity grew. They have traveled nationally for live performances, to include performance on a Carnival Cruise ship en route to Nassau, Grand Bahamas.

As the group members became older, their focus began to change--from their agenda to God’s agenda. They realized that God was transitioning them from “singing” to “ministry”. God has appointed them for such a time as this. They have been called to minister to the needs of God’s people all across the globe! Their gift of song ministry is for God’s glory, and not theirs. After accepting God’s mandate, they have evolved into a ministry group that seeks to reach all people at all levels! Their desire is to see people come into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to establish and fulfill their purpose in the Kingdom of God.
