People Gonna Talk Lyrics

Please don't cry my baby
Can't nobody ever come between us, no uh
We got somethin', something special, yeah
Neighbors on our street talking 'bout our thing
Messin', messin' our business
Pay no attention baby, hold your little head up high now

People gonna talk, people gonna hate us
People gonna talk and ooh
People gonna be people and I tell you people they just gotta talk

Ooh, don't worry baby, it's gonna be all right
Can't nobody ever bring us down now
We got it baby, we got the real real thing
The way you walk, I? ll tell you sure is nice
It makes 'em nervous just to watch you walk, baby
Keep on struttin' honey, hold your little head up high now

People gonna talk, people gonna stare
People gonna balk and ooh
People gonna be people and I tell you people they just gotta talk

Don't you let them get you down now
Don't you worry about a dog-gone thing
People just naturally gonna talk
About a girl who's got it, got everything
And baby, baby, baby, you? ve got it

Uh people gonna talk, people gonna frown
People gonna talk and ooh put us down
People gonna be people and I tell you people they just gotta talk

So let 'em talk, huh!
People just naturally gonna talk
But we got to keep on tryin'
But we got to keep on tryin'
But we got to keep on tryin', yeah
It's so hard to live in this dog-gone city, huh
It's a city without pity
But we got to keep on tryin'
We got to keep on tryin'
Oh let 'em talk

Talk ooh
Talking about a girl, ooh
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl who? s got it
Talking about a girl

The Box Tops were an American band of the 60s that combined soul and rock music into a popular sound epitomized by their famous single "The Letter". The band was fronted by teenaged singer Alex Chilton, and for their studio recordings after "The Letter", consisted solely of Chilton and Memphis studio musicians. For live performances, Chilton was joined by Tom Boggs (drums), Rick Allen (bass), Gary Talley (guitar), and Bill Cunningham (organ). A popular original member before their first hit was Larry Spillman (drums). Spillman, who dated Cybil Shepherd during their high school years, left the band to to play college and pro baseball.

The band existed from 1967 to 1970, after which Chilton went on to lead the legendary Big Star.

The single "Neon Rainbow" was used in television adverts for the UK telecoms company, Talk Talk, in 2009/2010. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
