1. Pretentious is L.A.'s original tribute to The Pretenders, faithfully recreating the classic Pretenders' live show from the 80s, including Pretenders' hits like "Middle of The Road", “Back on The Chain Gang”, and "I'll Stand by You".

Hynde and company are definitive rock icons, and Pretentious have captured the essence of the Pretenders spirit with their spot-on renditions of timeless Pretenders’ songs. Playing hallmark Pretenders classics like "Precious", "Mystery Achievement", “Tattooed Love Boys” and "Brass in Pocket", Pretentious pays homage to the original Pretenders line-up of Chrissie Hynde, Martin Chambers, James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon.

With the eerily Hynde-like vocals and punctuating rhythm guitar of Dina Gathe (in the role of Chrissie Hynde), the thumping bass of Mike Bear (as Pete Farndon), the energetic drumming of Eddie DeJoy (as Martin Chambers), and the unabashed guitar solos of Brian Keith (as James Honeyman-Scott), the Pretentious live show offers an authentic recreation of the pure rock and roll energy and Hynde sensuality that have made the Pretenders world famous.

2. Pretentious, a Charleston, WV based band, formed in 1999 by Robert Haynes and Shaun Lester while they were freshman in high school. Robert and Shaun had been friends since childhood. It was suppose to be a fun pop/punk type of band, they wrote lots of songs but never recorded any of them. 4 years after Shaun and Robert formed Pretentious, Shaun left WV for Delaware.

After Shaun moved Pretentious went on hiatus, Robert went on to move to Berea, KY in 2003, but he held on to the idea of Pretentious and during the summer of 2004, Robert hooked up with Joe Ashworth, a friend he met while in JROTC in high school. Joe and Robert discussed starting a band and Robert suggested they use the name Pretentious which Joe liked and agreed on the name. They began writing songs which tended to revolve around death, suicide, and depression. One of these songs was "Suicide Menage Trois". Once again there was an abundance of songs, but once again before being able to record any of them the band went on hiatus, this time due to a falling out between its 2 members.

At Berea College, Robert met a Brady Philbeck who was making techno type music and Robert used one of Brady's songs "Carnaval" to record the first and as of right now only Pretentious song to be record "Suicide Menage Trois (Carnaval Mix)." This was the beginning of what would become Berea Electric Phantasm.

Robert is working on putting together a Pretentious album and finally record some of the many songs that are written for this band name, but with a BEP album and a Robert Haynes album currently on his plate, Pretentious is not his priority.
