Wild Surmise are a two piece instrumental rock band from Ireland. The band was formed by brothers Tom and Sean Power in 2010. Since 2010 the band has released 3 full length albums and 4 EPs.

Wild Surmise’s first release was back in 2010 with the release of Galactic Debris. It was the band’s first foray into writing music and a good first step into the world of recording and production. It was recorded in a small room/studio, begrudgingly agreed upon by their parents who thought rooms should be used for more practical things like beds and chairs.

Wild Surmise then followed Galactic Debris with 2011’s Surreality. An ambitious concept album involving a Martian revolution, wormholes to parallel universes and pirates on the Neptunian Seas.

Surreality was followed up by the spacey sounding Cloudwatching in 2012. An album inspired by the endless cloudy skies that cover the west coast of Ireland. Imagining the countless wonders that lay beyond those clouds inspired the songs on this album.

Albums now become shorter EP’s as Tom, decides to head to college and study Theoretical Physics of all things! The endless integrals almost killed him but he survived to release the EP Last Perfect Day in 2012. A short album about the Last Perfect Day on Earth, when the sun shines one last time before incinerating us all.

2013 saw the release of “Without”. Without is an EP which builds on everything that went before it. Includes vast soundscapes and intimate passages. Taking in electronic music, post rock and ambient styles. It ended up being a perfect alignment of everything Wild Surmise aims to be.

A busy college schedule interrupts progress on new Wild Surmise material but B-Sides from the 2013-2014 period were released in 2014 as “Endless Forms”.

“Within”, the aptly named follow up to Without was released in March 2015. Its another step on the Wild Surmise journey. This time all the songs were written on piano first. This led to a slightly more jazz influenced EP while still retaining the sound of the earlier sister EP “Without” Read more on Last.fm.
