Łydka Grubasa – a Polish music band founded in 2002 in Olsztyn .
The music played by the band is a mixture of rock , alternative rock , heavy metal and folk . The group is distinguished by its peculiar (often vulgar ), humorous and satirical lyrics .
History
The band was originally intended to be a kind of "concert joke" accompanying the previously formed thrash metal band Respite, playing with the same line-up , and occasionally the band Projekt X, in which some of its members played. The band's name comes from the calf of the then guitarist, and later vocalist and leader of the band – Bartosz Krusznicki .
The first concert as Łydka Grubasa took place on November 12, 2002 in the student club Kotłownia in Toruń during the Respite concert. In 2005, the band recorded a demo album entitled Stopa nie jestwszechna .
In 2005, vocalist Maciej "Booch" Buczak left the band and was replaced by Bartosz Krusznicki. In 2007, guitarist Janusz "Plastuch" Dawidczuk left the band because he moved to Ireland and was replaced by Maciej "Ziggy" Charytoniak .
The first studio album by Łydka Grubasa was released in 2010 and was titled Bąż Woa . After the release of the first album, a period of intensive development of the band began; its popularity also increased. In 2013, another studio album was released – Perpetuum Debile . In 2017, the album O-dur C-ból was released , and in early 2020, the premiere of the latest album Socjalibacja took place . Reviewers appreciated that Łydka Grubasa mixes many different musical genres in its albums, such as reggae , folk metal and groove. The message of the songs was also highlighted, with their satirical lyrics criticizing institutions such as ZUS , touching on the subject of emancipation of transsexuals , reminding about immigration problems , or talking about the omnipresence of social media , pseudoscience and conspiracy theories and their impact on human life . Despite this, reviewers noted that the form in which they raise these topics is often "average" or simply disgusting or even sexist .
In 2011, the band took part in Przystanek Woodstock (since 2018 Pol'and'Rock Festival) . The band returned to the festival in 2018 and has also been present in 2019 , 2020 and 2021 . In 2019 and 2021, the band played on the Main Stage, and in 2019 they also won the Golden Bączek award [ 19 ] for their concert on the Small Stage a year earlier and released a live album with a recording of this concert.
In 2022, the band went on a concert tour to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary entitled "Jokes aside, or the XX-Lecie Łydki Grubasa". During this tour, on November 11, a special anniversary concert with the brass section and guests was recorded at the Krakow Studio club , which was released as a 2CD + DVD + VOD 4K album in June 2024 as the Na Żywca album. Zenek Kupatasa , Grzegorz Halama , Piotr Majerczyk , Jacek Jędrzejak and DJ Flip took part in the recording . In 2012, 2020 and 2022, the band took part in concerts on the occasion of the finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity .
In 2023, on the occasion of the band's 20th anniversary, the band's next studio album was released the year before: ĘĆ , which featured the band's earlier songs in collaboration with other artists. The recordings featured, among others: Michał Jelonek , Kwiat Jabłoni , Rasta , Czesław Mozil , Jacek Jędrzejak, Enej , Grzegorz Halama and Tomson . The release of the album was accompanied by a concert tour promoting it "Ęć się nazwa Twoje" .
In the fall of 2024, the band went on a concert tour called "Janusz's Soul, or Welcome to Poland" with acoustic versions of the band's songs and a stage design created especially for the concerts .
