fromis_9 (Hangul: 프로미스나인; Katakana: プロミスナイン) is a five-member girl group under ASND. Formed through Mnet's reality survival show Idol School.The current members are:Hayoung,Jiwon,Chaeyoung,Nagyung and Jiheon.Their group name stands as a promise to their viewers to be the best girl group.

The fandom name is a combination of the words “fromis” and “clover”. “A promise between fromis_9 and their fans to spend happy moments together.”

fromis_9 debuted with the pre-release single "Glass Shoes" on November 29, 2017, during the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan. Following this initial release, their debut mini-album To. Heart, featuring the title track "To Heart", was launched on January 24, 2018, peaking at number four on South Korea's Gaon Album Chart.

Throughout their early years, fromis_9 was managed jointly by Off the Record Entertainment and Stone Music before transitioning fully to Pledis Entertainment in August 2021 as part of company restructuring. Over time, fromis_9 grew in popularity, releasing a series of successful EPs and singles, and earning their first music show win on The Show in September 2021 with "Talk & Talk".

In January 2022, they released their fourth mini-album, Midnight Guest, led by the single "DM", followed by their fifth mini-album, From Our Memento Box, featuring "Stay This Way" in June of the same year.

On October 28, 2022, it was announced that members Lee Sae-rom and Lee Seo-yeon would be taking a break from activities due to health concerns. Sae-rom returned to activities at the end of that year, during a performance at 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon. Seo-yeon also returned to activities by the event.

On May 15, 2023, Pledis Entertainment announced Fromis 9 would be releasing their first studio album titled Unlock My World on June 5, which would also be their first release as an eight-member group. On October 11, the group released the single "Love Me Back" as part of the soundtrack for the Naver webtoon Operation: True Love.

In July 2024, Fromis 9 were confirmed to be preparing for a new album, set for release in August. During July, the group also performed at a series of festivals, including Weverse Con Kwave Music Festival in Manila and their first ever appearances at Waterbomb festival across three cities.

On July 18, Fromis 9 announced their fifth single album titled Supersonic, which was released on August 12. The album's title track peaked at number two on South Korea's Circle Chart.

On January 26, 2025, start-up agency ASND announced that five of the eight members, Hayoung, Jiwon, Chaeyoung, Nagyung and Jiheon, had signed on with them.
