Same Thing Lyrics

Call me up and
I'll come over
every single time

In your driveway
Still alone, I'm
trying to rewind

In your bedroom
In the dark, we
play with old mistakes

After midnight
You're asleep but
I stay wide awake

Morning comes
and we start over
over, again

Take my hand, let it go
Make it stop, hold me close
But it's still the same old thing

Pick me up, put me down
Walk away, turn around
But it's still the same old thing

Toss and turn, then relax
Running from, running back
But it's still the same old thing

In your arms, yet again
Never want it to end
But it's still the same thing

Call you up and
You come over
every single time

See your headlights
Feel my heart rate
Slowly start to climb

In my doorway
We don't talk, there's
Nothing left to say

Grab your hair and
pull you close but
I am miles away

Morning comes
and we start over
over, again

Take my hand, let it go
Make it stop, hold me close
But it's still the same old thing

Pick me up, put me down
Walk away, turn around
But it's still the same old thing

Toss and turn, then relax
Running from, running back
But it's still the same old thing

In your arms, yet again
Never want it to end
But it's still the same thing

Wish I knew the start to end
I say I do but I pretend
Here by night and gone by day
I always thing but never say

Wish I knew, wish
wish, wish
wish I
wish I knew from start to end

A Philadelphia electronic pop duo comprised of Jeremy Lloyd (production/songwriting) and Samantha Gongol (vocals/songwriting). The pair’s roots can be traced back as far as a middle school talent show that saw Lloyd - the son of a conductor and an opera singer - hear Gongol sing for the first time. Many a moon down the line, following a stint studying music composition at college for Lloyd while Gongol was cutting her teeth in New York as a songwriter, the pair reunited in the former’s bedroom studio.

Citing influences ranging from Cole Porter to Kanye, from Ella Fitzgerald to Drake, while many artists define themselves by the mixture of inspirations they’ve concocted, Marian Hill go one step further: fusing disparate sources into a compound sound that’s hard to imagine ever having been apart.

Marian Hill is joined live by bassist and saxophonist Steve Davit. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
