YUGA (優河) , born on February 2, 1992, is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Known for her emotionally captivating voice, she has built a reputation for blending introspective lyrics with diverse musical styles, ranging from quiet, folky melodies to danceable, groove-infused tracks. YUGA has cited personal experiences and her observations of everyday life as central themes in her songwriting, aiming to create music that resonates deeply with her audience.
Managed by Mai Promotion, she began her career in 2011. Her debut full album, TABIJI, was released in 2015. She gained wider recognition with songs such as ",めぐる (Meguru)," the theme for the 2019 film A Long Goodbye, and "灯火 (Tomoshibi)," featured in the 2022 TBS drama If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student. In 2022, she collaborated with her band, Mahō Band, to release the album 言葉のない夜に (Wordless Night), which was accompanied by a nationwide tour.
In 2023, Yuga composed and performed the theme song and soundtrack for the NHK drama Gesshoku no Yoru wa (On the Night of the Lunar Eclipse). Additionally, she formed the duo Jane Jade with fellow artist Sakura Fujiwara to explore new creative possibilities.
Her fourth album, Love Deluxe, released on October 4 2024, showcases her artistic growth with standout tracks like "Don't Remember Me," "Sunset." Besides her albums, Yuga has contributed to TV commercials, musicals, and various live events, including performances at Sunset Live 2024 and Slow Live '24.
