Pete Carr (born Jesse Willard Carr in Daytona Beach, Florida, on 22 April 22 1950; died 27 June 2020) was an American guitarist best remembered as one of the most versatile studio guitarists over three decades. In 1973 he was part of Leblanc & Carr, with Lenny LeBlanc. He was lead guitarist for the famed Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and known for his versatility with both electric and acoustic guitars to perform a vast array of musical styles including folk, rock, pop, country, blues and soul.

Over his career, he contributed to hit recordings by Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Hank Williams, Jr., Barbra Streisand, Luther Ingram, Willie Nelson and many other artists. In addition, Carr added depth to his understanding of the recording studio environment by engineering and producing numerous albums over the years which has led to several Grammy nominations. In 1974, Paul Simon's "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" album was nominated for two Grammy Awards; and "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger earned two Grammys in 1981. Carr also co-produced Bob Seger's "Stranger in Town" album which featured the hit "Old Time Rock and Roll".

In 1968, Carr, Gregg Allman, Duane Allman, Paul Hornsby and Johnny Sandlin, in a group named Hour Glass, played together on the "Power of Love" album.

In the 1970s he recorded two albums on the Big Tree label: Not A Word On It (1975) and Multiple Flash (1978), which contained a very long and exiting cover version of Bob Dylan's Knocking On Heaven's Door.

In 1979 he joined Boatz, a southern pop/rock quartet. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
