Rachel Andrea Owens is an award-winning film score composer, producer, and keyboardist renowned for her skill and flare for the dramatic. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she lived for 16 years and studied classical piano at Jana Stiles’ Keyboard Studio. In 2016, Rachel moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was influenced by the local musical culture. During her three-year stint at the University of New Orleans, she experimented with jazz, blues, and rock, and played with the University of New Orleans Pop Ensemble, all while During the pandemic, she explored her growing interest in experimental electronic music, where she eventually found her niche. In 2021, she moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to join Middle Tennessee State University’s nationally renowned Audio Production program and pursue a career as a producer and film score composer. In her first year, she composed 11 film scores for student films at MTSU, including one for the annual 54 Hour Film Fest, for which she was awarded Best Student Score. She also received a Best Score Award for her work on Burning Barrel, which she composed and performed with her sister SOFA. Rachel’s debut album was a combination of new material and older sessions from her years of electronic experimentation, as well as some of her recent film and television scores. She is currently working on her second album and co-producing The Director’s Chair on Blue Raider Television. Rachel cites Pink Floyd, Wendy Carlos, Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Hans Zimmer, Metallica, Muse, and Klaus Schulze as her greatest influences. Read more on Last.fm.
