Jivin Scientists is the name of a Tucson AZ based Hip hop group. The Group centers around Mc Runt aka James Owens and Producer and beat-smith Phen aka Ryan Troncoso. Formed in 1998 In Gallup New Mexico, The Jivin Scientists started off as a collective of Mc's,Graffity wrighters, B-boys and Party Rock Dj's. In 2000 Runt's older brother Dj Deeko aka Jason Owens and founder of the collective moved to Tucson Az and began playing in the hip hop scean. In 2001 Runt and Phen along with Dj Deeko and Chase Crusher aka Eddi Herric finished there debut album entitled Good For Nothing. Runt and Phen then only seniors in High School passed out over 2000 copy's of there album all over New Mexico and Arizona. In 2002 Runt moved to Tucson Az to presume music. In the summer of 2002 The Jivin Scientists Released there second album entitled "Paragraph". Produced entirely by Phen the Album set the stage for the group to play live shows. With over 5000 copy's handed out hand to hand the album led the group to open up for major acts traveling through Tucson. Acts Such as Atmosphere, Murs, 2mex, J live, and many more. In 2004 Phen then living in Albuquerque New Mexico moved to Tucson and began work on the Jivin Scientists 3 album entitled " Avrage Joe" The Album Produce by Member Chase Crusher and engineer by Phen be came the first album sold by the group. Selling over 600 hand to hand the Jivin Scientists Set out on the Road. touring for short stents. Playing shows allover the south west the group began developing a fan base all over. In 2006 the group released there 4th album entitled "Monsters". Produced entirely by Phen the album became a calling card to the Jivin Scientists sound. Dark intent honest music that tugged at the hart of the lister. playing show and touring over the next 2 years the Jivin Scientists came in contact with a nother up and coming region group the 8bit cynics. in 2008 the Jivin Scientists teamed up with the 8 bit cyics and released a collaboration album entitled "Self help" Group head men Runt and Dewy Binns of 8bit recored the album in a matter of 3 days and fallowed with a 26 city tour in the summer of 2008.selling over a 1000 hard copy's and countless digital sales the album spread the name of the Jivin Scientists form cost to cost. in 2009 Runt and then group D.J. Deeko moved to Oklahoma to deal with family issues. during that time Runt linked up with Tucson Producer DefacedProperty and began work on the groups 6th album entitled "Autumn" There most resent release lead them to the road once more and in the summer of 2010 Runt moved back to Tucson.
