Katie Gregson-MacLeod is a Scottish singer-songwriter from Inverness. Composing music since childhood, she performed for the first time at the Inverness Music Festival at the age of eight. Years later, aged 18, she made her festival debut at the 2019 Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. In 2020, while studying in Edinburgh, she released her debut single Still a Sad Song, followed by her debut EP Games I Play in 2021.

In 2022, she independently released Second Single Bed, her first song to be played on BBC Radio One. Weeks later, she posted a demo snippet of Complex, a song she had written hours earlier onto TikTok. The snippet went viral overnight and had been shared tens of thousands of times, hundreds of cover versions being posted. As of 2024, the minute-long snippet is sitting at 1.2 million likes. As a result of the attention, multiple record labels reached out to her at the coffee shop where she worked, ultimately signing with Columbia Records. A full demo of the song, complex (demo), was released in August and remains her most streamed song with 38 million plays on Spotify. Her second EP songs written for piano was released in December 2022.
