Settle Down Lyrics

Within our body there's a core infection
And every time that we choose a side
It weakens the poor connection
To our hearts from our minds
We turn our back on our helpless brother
Then define him as a social class
It's human nature to divide each other
'Cause we're all afraid to finish last
I know it's hard sometimes
But we're making it worse
Let's try to see things from
The other side
Let's change it up
Or do you wanna see how far this goes?
We've had enough
All this blow-for-blow
Let's settle down settle down
Settle down
In every kingdom there's a crooked figure
That makes it easy to assign the blame
From the bottom it's an unfair picture
But in the end, you see, we're all the same
Can you be certain that you'd do much better?
It can't be easy to have all the power
Can we decide not to oppress each other?
Or it is bred into the skin of ours?
I know it's hard sometimes
But we're making it worse
Let's try to see things from
The other side
Let's change it up
Or do you wanna see how far this goes?
We've had enough
All this blow-for-blow
Let's settle down settle down
Settle down
Music
Let's change it up
Or do you wanna see how far this goes?
We've had enough
All this blow-for-blow
Let's change it up
Or do you wanna see how far this goes?
We've had enough
All this blow-for-blow
Let's settle down settle down
Settle down

Taylor Phelan is a Texas born singer-songwriter and indie-rock artist, most notably known as the former founder and frontman of the Chicago based indie-rock band, The Canes. Most recently, Phelan was a highly favored contestant on the seventh season of NBC’s hit reality series, The Voice. Phelan first started as a independent artist and now with the name recognition the show has afforded him, he’s relaunched his solo career. “I never wanted to be a solo artist, which conjures visions of a guy on stage, strumming away at an acoustic guitar. I’m a band guy at heart. Working under my name is what makes the most sense right now but I want to bring that ‘band feel’ with me" he says. As of 2015, Phelan is writing, recording and partnering with many of the industry super-powers he built relationships with during his time on The Voice. Phelan is currently developing a touring schedule with targeted release dates in 2015.

Phelan currently lives near Dallas, Tx with his wife, Nikki (www.nikdval.com), and their two year-old daughter, Addison. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
