Jay Class (formerly Dyalekt)
Denver, CO
Hip-hop/Rap
About the artist--
Linguistically, the word dialect distinguishes one variation of language from another, and so can explain the name chosen by Denver-bred emcee, Dyalekt. Belonging to the Diamond Boiz is only the base of recognition in the local hip-hop scene.
Dyalekt is regarded as a youngin' by fellow artists, but as a musical genius, none the less. Beginning his hip-hop dreams as a child, by the age of 12, Dyalekt acquired his first pair of Numark turntables. His ambitions of being a prominent DJ/Producer were as young as he was, but his passion was musical mature. But soon, obligations shifted and by the age 16, Dyalekt focused more on lyrical expression, assisted by fellow Diamond Boi and older brother, Zome.
Since then, Dyalekt has put to work his natural-based talent in production and lyrical collaborations with other artists, such as fellow Diamond Boi, Zé, and established local artists Mane Rok, A.V.I.U.S. (Prime Element/Kamakaze Records), F.O.E., Yonnas (The Pirate Signal), Es-Nine (Prime Element/Kamakaze Records), Spoke-in-Wordz and others. Along with the Diamond Boiz and featured cameos with Mane Rok, he has shared the stage with prominent major acts including Clipse, Ice Cube, Devin the Dude, Wiz Khalifa, Nappy Roots, Likwit Junkies, Blue Print, Akrobatik, Kenan Bell, among others.
Dyalekt is back to work after a productive 2010, dropping his mixtape November Hates Me, which includes his socially-conscious hit “Rule the World” that garnered attention from The Onion’s AV-Club, and mixtape titled Dreams, Caffeine & Nicotine, which gained media attention, making Westwords (Village Voice) Best Albums of 2010. Engineering albums for Diamond Boiz, Zome and Ze, and other local artists, the young emcee, also known also as JClass and Dyzzy, is putting literal meaning to his own words, "I'ma hustle to death."
November Hates Me was released November 22nd, 2010.
