Mark Spiro (born Mark Stuart Spiro on 27 March 1957; died 30 March 2024) was an American songwriter, record producer, Only releasing solo material sporadically, he is remembered for providing songs to such artists as Julian Lennon, Cheap Trick, John Waite, Heart, Lila McCann, Laura Branigan, Bad English, Lita Ford, and Giant, as well as REO Speedwagon, Mr. Big, Heart, Kansas, Winger, and Bad English.

Spiro was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. In his early career, he spent time in Germany working with Jack White and other producers, and he released his first solo album, In Stereo. Spiro moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a songwriter, and collaborated with a number of artists.

Spiro collaborated on eight songs on the debut album by Giant, including the band's biggest hit, "I'll See You in My Dreams". Spiro and Michael Thompson formed the band "Pray For Rain". Spiro then signed a solo deal with Interscope, and Michael Thompson went on to release the Michael Thompson Band album.

Spiro did not release an album with Interscope. Spiro's second solo album, Care Of My Soul was released in 1994, in Australia, Japan, and Scandinavia.

In 1996 Spiro released Now Is Then, Then Is Now on Westcoast Records. The album won the UK Frontiers Award for best singer/songwriter album. The next albums, Devotion, and The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of were released on the German label MTM Music. Spiro's latest release, King Of Crows, was released by Atenzia Music.

In September 2012, his album Care Of My Soul. Vol. 2, was released by Sun Hill Production.

Spiro released the solo album "Traveling Cowboys" on May 7, 2021, on Frontiers Records. The first single from the album, a duet called "7 Billion People", features Julian Lennon and guitarist Tim Pierce. Read more on Last.fm.
