Natividad Martínez, the popular "Naty", for many the flute of Venezuela, was born in Caracas on December 25, 1957. La Vega Parish saw him grow up, along with his thirteen brothers, of whom two of them were musicians: Carlos (saxophonist) and Frank (percussionist).

In the year 1967, Naty, begins to take his first steps in music, when he makes the substitution in the tumbadora to his brother Frank, who played in a group of the neighborhood called "Sexteto Sonoro". Naty did a good job and was immediately hired and his brother had to ride the drums.

Naty alternated his high school studies with music, and in 1969, he participated in a group called "Fever" and then worked with the group "Acosta y sus tremendouss". Soon he started studying saxophone at the Prudencio Isaac Music School, but to buy the instrument he had to make a hard time playing the tumbadora at night, in the disappeared Club "La Guajira", with a group called "Nueva Gente", in which one day it occurred to him to leave the tumbadora, to sound the flute and thus start the musical adventure with this instrument.

Naty becomes known within the Venezuelan music movement as a flutist, and is called by several groups including Federico and his Latin Combo and Los Melódicos, but it is definitely with the newly created La Magnifica Orchestra, with whom Naty decides to stay. The Magnifica was a charanga led by Elio Pacheco who had been performing as conguero of the Latin Dimension since its inception.

With the Magnifica, Naty, made several presentations and recorded the flute in the only two albums of this group, "Elio Pacheco and La Magnifica" (1977) and "Con clase, sabor y algo más" (1978).

At this same time, it is Naty, who advised Carlos Quintana "Tabaco", to make the change from sextet to orchestra, and this is how in 1978, the Tobacco Orchestra and its Metals was born. Naty begins an excellent job as a flutist in each record production of Tabaco y sus Metales.

In 1979, the singer Rodrigo Mendoza and the pianist Jesús "Chuito" Narváez, deserted the "Dimensión Latina", and formed the "Amistad Orchestra", hiring Naty, but he still continued to collaborate with his friend Carlos Quintana " Tobacco".

La Orquesta Amistad quickly gained strength within the salsa scene, performing countless presentations and recording up to five discs, in which Naty participated with his cheerful flute. Soon after inexplicably "La Amistad", it begins to fall apart until it disintegrates.

Natividad Martínez, wished to perfect himself more and more in the execution of his instrument, and continues with his formal studies, while at the same time that his mind passed the idea of forming his own group. This is how it was born in 1981, the group "Naty and his Charanga", and with the record support of "Velvet", recorded their first production entitled "Follow the rhythm" (1981), which became a success with the song "Sandra Mora" by Pablo Álvarez, which had been recorded ten years earlier by the Sexteto Juventud, in the voice of Carlos "Tabaco" Quintana.

In the following year he recorded his second album "A base de salsa" (1982), with the participation in the vocal part of the Panamanian Carlos "El Grande", which gives more strength to the group.

In 1983, he recorded the third album with the charanga, but he has to hire another singer, Erick Francheski, since his manager Francisco Mendoza, decides to form his own record label "Combo Records" and Carlos "El Grande" Ferrer has to stay with Velvet fulfilling his contract.

In that same year 1983, Naty, decides to change his style and leaves the charanga, calling himself now "Naty and his Orchestra". In the month of May of the year 1984 he recorded his first album as an orchestra entitled "Yo no soy guapo" (1984), where he manages to place several hits among them: "Our marriage", "Do not bother her" and "I am not handsome ", all vocalized by Erick Francheski, who would later leave the orchestra to continue his musical career as a soloist.

In 1985, Naty and his orchestra recorded another album with an excellent singer, Franklin Sánchez, who was in charge of continuing the commercial success of the orchestra with Erick Francheski. This album tastes a lot to the public dancer especially for topics such as: "Que habla", "La Engañada" and "No se me enoje", all authored by Naty.

Despite the onslaught of the merengue rhythm for that time, Naty went ahead with his orchestra and his projects. In 1986, they recorded two albums "La experiencia y el futuro", vocalized by Canelita Medina and "Tiene razón señora", vocalized by: Franklin Sánchez, Juan Carlos Neuman and Naty himself, who made his debut as a singer.

For the year 1989, he records the album "Regreso Naty", with the singers Willmer Cobos and Julio Moreno, imposing songs like: "La Perdiste" and "La Vida", later he records, "El Legendario" (1991), where they vocalize: Willmer Cobos and Orlando Henríquez. In 1994, he released the album "En dos tiempos", and in 1995 he produced and recorded with his orchestra the last record where Carlos "Tabaco" Quintana, "Proyecto Maelo", in homage to the sonero mayor Ismael Rivera. The disc in question began to record "Tabaco", and Ángel Flores finished it, due to the strong health break that had tobacco

Naty, has represented Venezuela in various festivals and national and international concerts, accompanying and alternating with outstanding figures such as: Ray Barretto, Tito Puente, Puerto Rico Great Combo, Mark Anthony, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Irakere Group, Fania All Stars , among other great luminaries of Latin music.

In 1998, another excellent production of Naty and his orchestra, goes to the music market "Naty and his friends", counting on the vocalization of figures like: Ismael Miranda, Carlos "Cano" Estremera, Erick Francheski and William "Wiwi" Buznegos.

In year 2002, he recorded his disc nro.18, a cd, that collects several of his past successes and some unpublished songs, here Naty presented two new singers: Gerald Méndez and Rubén Paredes, accompanied by those already known, Erick Francheski, Wiwi Buznegos and Frank Somaró.

Natividad Martínez, despite not having obtained the international recognition he deserves, is a very lucky artist, since he enjoys the affection of the public that always remembers his songs, enjoys the respect of the musicians, and also enjoys in very good health.

His most recent musical production entitled "25 Aniversario" (2008) is already on the market, performed as always with great professionalism and with an excellent staff of Venezuelan musicians, who were invited to make this recording something very special. Among the invited musicians are: Frank "El Pavo" Hernández, who despite his health problems put soul and heart to sound the pailas in the musical theme "El Pavo, Padilla and Cheo", as in his old days. It also has the participation of the singers: Rodrigo Mendoza, Orlando Watussi, Javier Plaza, Alfredo Vera, Edgar "Dolor" Quijada, Arturo Guaramato and Marcial Isturiz. Read more on Last.fm.
