Octosound, was formed and based in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

The band was formed by Simon Grimshaw (Guitars), Andrew Martin (Lyrics/Vocals), Tavish Fraser (Bass), Fran Alexander (Electric Violin), Derek Scurll (Percussion) and Katie Eagleton (Woodwind and Percussion) in 2001.

The band's tracks were generally written collaboratively but with Andrew writing lyrics for all but one track ("Connecting Flight") where he collaborated with Tavish. The band's style varied from warm, smooth tracks like 'China Town' and 'You'll Never Bring Me Down', reminiscent of Morcheeba, through to darker moody tracks such as 'Spiderweb' and 'Between The Lines' which were more reminiscent of Portishead, Moloko and Zero 7.

The band membership fluctuated during its three year lifespan and included the departure of Tavish, Derek and Katie and the arrival of Dario Galasso (Guitars, Synth), Mark Salad (Percussion) and Carl Taylor (Bass).
