In an unlikely matrimony between singer/songwriter and bluegrass band, Michael Ford Jr. and The Apache Relay are creating a strikingly fresh blend of progressive bluegrass and Americana/folk music. Playing together for under a year, the group released their debut LP 1988, produced by Doug Williams (The Avett Brothers “The Gleam”, “Second Gleam”, “Four Thieves Gone” and “Mignonette”) in late August. The LP claims many guest appearances including Jessica Lea Mayfield, cellist Joe Kwon of The Avett Brothers, and renowned Nashville session bassist, Byron House.

While the band has flourished in early studio recordings, their true colors shine from the stage. On songs like “Lets Start Over” and “Magnolia Street Heartbreaker” the band can make a Hell's Angel cry, and songs like “Blue Eyes” can make crippled man stand up out of his wheel chair. When it’s all said and done, its not the words on this page that describe the band, the music speaks for itself. Read more on Last.fm.
