Skin Games Lyrics

Okay, here we go...

Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...
Don't let your deal go down
Come on

Mmm-mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm-mmm...

There's a murmur going 'round
It's a low kind of moaning sound
I don't know where this blues come from
It's just a death rattle on the tongue
It's a scream inside a void
Or a howling wind outside
Well, I can't ignore this feeling
Lord, it leaves me so unsatisfied

Come on!
Yeah

I'm a child in a hostile land
Crying for a mother's hand
And I'm marked by color, wrapped in skin
Tied by history and original sin
I said, mama, what's my name
And what's my purpose here
I said, rock me in your arms
Cleanse me with your tears

Skin game, skin game
Oh-oh-ooh, yeah
Don't let your deal go down

Hell may be a place
Where lots of little devils stay
And their spells spread fear and hatred
And mischief in a thousand ways
We are just lost souls
Looking for a place to be
One people, one kind
A multicolored rosary

Skin game, skin game
Skin game
(Skin game, skin game, skin game)
Don't let your deal go down

Don't let your deal go down
Don't let your deal go down

Don't let your deal go down

Don't let your deal go down
Don't let your deal go down, no

Skin game, skin game
Don't let your deal go down
Skin game, skin game, skin game

Don't let your deal go down
Skin game

I'm a child in a hostile land
Crying for a mother's hands
And I'm marked by color, wrapped in skin
Tied by history and original sin
I said, mama, what's my name
And what's my purpose here
I said, rock me in your arms
Cleanse me with your tears

Skin game, skin game

There are three recorded bands with this name.

1. The Silencers from Scotland have existed since the late 1980s. They were formed from the ashes of the 1980s band Fingerprintz.

The Silencers began their career with the 1987 album A Letter from St Paul. Although they had a couple of hits in their early career, the band were not rewarded with commercial success until the Scottish Tourist Board featured their version of the traditional "Wild Mountain Thyme", a hit which surprised everyone concerned.

2. The Silencers is a 1980s band from the United States, which produced just one album.

3. A side project with members of Rancid, The Slackers, Bad Religion, and The Vandals. Besides demos, the only officially released track was "Policeman" on the first Give 'Em The Boot compilation.
