Satan's Empire were a NWOBHM band who released their 1980 song soldiers of war through Newcastle based label neat Records on their "Leadweight" sampler compilation. It is off their obscure two-song 7" from about that time/earlier.
The band were formed in Dundee, Scotland in early 1979 when they began composing their own form of new heavy metal. Influences were notably Judas Priest, Rush and Zeppelin. The main core of the band revolved around three people: Lead vocalist Derek Lyon, Drummer Billy Masterton and Guitarist Sandy McRitchie. The band toured Britain and gained a small core following but were never able to break through into mainstream rock. Issues with line-up changes, management and broken promises meant the band split around 1983. Two other songs were recorded during this time at Scarf Studios, London and published with the Soldiers/Suicidal recordings through Scarf. Derek went on to play with local band VHF, guitarist Paul Lewis joined a few local London rock bands including Thunderstick. Sandy & Billy reformed in 1995 to record "The Art Of Terror" EP as "Partners In Rhyme" but went their seperate ways at the end of 1996.
