Ida Presti (1924-1967) and Alexandre LaGoya (1929-1999) were the greatest classical guitar duo in the world. They met in 1951 and played together for some 15 years before Presti's untimely death at 42. Presti herself has been called the greatest classical guitarist of the 20th century, perhaps surpassing Segovia. The remarkable emotional content as well as technical excellence of the Presti / Lagoya duo set a standard for all time.
