1) The band's pioneering avant-garde sound is highly revered, and they are considered to be one of the most influential bands in Japanese music. The members of Happy End were Haruomi Hasuno (bass, vocals), Takashi Matsumoto (drums) from the band Apryl Fool, Eiichi Ohtaki (guitar, vocals), and Shigeru Suzuki (guitar, vocals). They originally belonged to the "URC Records" recording label, and later the "Bellwood Records" label. Moby Grape and Buffalo Springfield among others were cited as their influencers.

The band was formed by Haruomi Hosono, and Takashi Matsumoto. When Happy End disbanded, Hosono went on to form the Yellow Magic Orchestra, while Matsumoto became a successful lyricist, and Suzuki and Ohtaki continued their careers as guitarists.

In 2003, their song "Kaze Wo Atsumete", from their album "Kazemachi Roman", appeared on the Lost In Translation movie soundtrack.

Rolling Stone Japan rated Happy End's album "Kazemachi Roman" as #1 on a list of the 100 best Japanese rock albums of all-time in their September 2007 issue.

2) Happy End was formed February of 2009 by anarchist singer-songwriter Kike of Todo o Nada, Kolumna Durruti, and Paso a Paso.
