Josh Blackburn grew up in Jackson, MS, waking up, strumming, writing, and being a vulnerable teenager to the harsh world of private school living.
After that, he went to the University of Mississippi where he enjoyed strumming, writing, and playing with a great band in Oxford, MS called Freeman's Ride.

After college, he moved to Nashville, TN where he stopped playing music and decided to live in the world of normality. He soon realized that he was not normal, so he returned to his passion of strumming, writing, and playing for various adventures. One was Disney. One was a band called ESKRA. And so on.

After his quick one year adventure to Nashville, he moved to Destin, FL. Here he enjoyed strumming, writing, and playing cover songs for your listening pleasure at the world famous Hogs Breath Saloon. During the summer of 2003 he wrote his first album "Brand New Something."

At this time he started playing frequently at a bar called Funky Blues Shack. In the Spring of 2004 a friend of his, Diana Deprisco, sent his album to Peter Malick. Peter is a songwriter/guitarist/producer in the LA area. He has done works with many artist one being Norah Jones. Peter decided that he wanted to do an album with Josh, so they started working on his album, "Starting Ground". They did a majority of the recording in the summer of 04 and the summer of 05. They recorded the album at The Green Room recording studio. There are some outstanding musicians on the album: Butch Norton who was the drummer from the EELS, Phil Parlapiano who is the keyboard player for John Prine, Chris Chaney who was the bassist for Janes Addiction, and Peter Malick on mandolin and lap steele.

Towards the end of his stay in Destin, his shows were getting busier and busier because of some extremely loyal locals and people from out of town. He felt like it was time to move away and start over. Drastic changes were to come.

In 2006, Josh moved to Loveland, CO and he was named best guitar player in Colorado at the 2006 Guitars on Fire Competition. From there, his shows started to pick up even more and he was playing quite a bit. His lines were getting longer to hear his originals. In the winter of 2006, he was asked to play for the season at Copper Mountain Ski Resort Wednesday thru Saturday. At that time, he would play his shows up in the mountains and then come down and play shows in the Fort Collins area. Lucky Joes was and still is his favorite place to play. He loves everyone who supports him at those shows. He says " they are the best fans in world". No doubt after you see Josh play live you understand.

Josh was a contestant of the TV show “Give Me The Gig” in 2012. He auditioned for famed producer Don Was. Josh's amazing playing skills and surprising vocal talent carried him into the upper elision of the contest.

Currently, the guitar virtuoso lives in the Denver area where he performs shows through out the front range of Colorado. His latest release Purple Elephant in 2012 has continued his growth as an artist putting him on a short list as one to watch.
