Knut Avenstroup Haugen is an award-winning composer celebrated for his evocative and cinematic scores for video games such as Dune: Awakening, Lords of the Fallen, Conan Exiles, and Age of Conan, as well as for the beloved Louis & Luca film franchise—among the most-watched films in his native Norway.
Renowned for crafting iconic and unforgettable music, Knut’s work is marked by his ability to fuse diverse musical traditions and styles with striking versatility. Classically trained in composition, orchestration, piano, and musicology in Norway and the Netherlands, his European orchestral roots are apparent in much of his work, even as he predominantly explores the cutting edge of hybrid scoring.
From intimate, delicate pieces to sweeping, large-scale orchestrations—drawing on everything from traditional folk music to jazz and electronic textures—his scores have earned over a dozen major international awards and nominations.
In addition to his game and film work, Knut has composed for a wide range of high-profile events, including the World Ski Championships, the bicentennial celebrations of both the University of Oslo and Henrik Wergeland, the Edvard Munch Anniversary, the Oslo Opera Festival, the HARPA Nordic Film Composers Awards, and the Norwegian Music Awards (Spellemannprisen).
Knut collaborates regularly with top-tier orchestras and soloists, and his music has been performed and recorded by many of Europe’s leading ensembles, including the Chamber Orchestra of London, Budapest Scoring Orchestra and Choir, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, among many others.
