Woods of Desolation is an anonymous Australian black metal project based out of Sydney, New South Wales. The project revolves around the songwriting and instrumentation of a musician known only as "D." A revolving line-up of vocalists, bassists and drummers have also assisted in the project; which has never performed live. The project began in 2005, releasing a self-titled demo and an acoustic EP (entitled Solitude) in 2006. This was followed by a second demo, ...Of An Undying Cold, in 2007. The following year would see the project release its debut full-length LP, entitled Towards the Depths; as well as split releases with the bands Vorkuta and Drohtnung. A new EP, Sorh, came in 2010; while a second album, Torn Beyond Reason, was released in February 2011. A compilation of the project's earlier work, entitled The Darkest Days, was released in 2012. The third album under the project's name, As the Stars, was released in February 2014. After 8 years of no new music, The fourth album entitled The Falling Tide, was released in December 2022.
