Christopher James currently hailing from the city of brotherly love, (Philadelphia, PA) purchased his first synthesizer in 1993 which was the ever popular Kawai K1 II. Along side an Alesis MMT-8 and a two track tape machine, he started recording what came out of his fingertips. The MMT-8 enabled Chris to create killer basslines and drum sequences, and then play leads around those.
But as time moved on, it became evident that you need money to buy new equipment... to at least get some type of decent sounding demo to the studios - hence the low budget recordings you here on this site. There was no Internet back then, only books and magazines on where you should send your material, un-solicited I may add which really was a shot in the dark.
"I think the turn-around in my life was when I sent a "dance" demo out to a studio in NY and actually received a reply back. They said that it was a great song, but just needed to be professional worked on. That took money. I had none." CJ
He was broke. It was never his intention to play in a band, being the shy (need to get drunk before arriving at a party) type. Not having a solid place to live, crappy job, etc., all equipment was sold, and the dream put on hold. There was even a time when concert promoting was tried, but that too: You need money to make money.
Everyday for 10 years, Christopher J could be walking down the street, sitting in a carwash, or just plain sleeping, the music was being created in his mind and sometimes being recorded (the memory goes as you age, you know) in his mind as well.
As C James pursued his goals in the "real world" as a computer guru (more on that story later) he finally recently met his financial goals that allowed him to support his family, but also be re-born where he left off 10 years ago. Music Creativity.
So.......
10 years later, American Musical Supply (an instrument dealer) became his best friend. Researching, studying all the newest technology, he even bought back some of his old equipment off of E-bay (not the same equipment) to try to regenerate some of those old grooves. In one year the Equipment list grew 10 fold, and now Chris is ready to begin the process of bringing his creativity to the world.
Christopher James is all about the music. He loves to create music for all genres, being inspired by all that is around him.
