"Who would’ve thought an accountant, a camera specialist and a biologist could rock so hard? Since these three came together in 2004, Los Angeles’ The Eye The Ear and The Arm have been hard at work fusing their love for rock of decades past with their own modern insight, pushing what a three-piece band is generally thought to be capable of. Growing up out of their local scene of Newbury Park, CA, the goal in mind for The Eye The Ear The Arm's Darin Green (guitar) and Derek Coburn (bass, vocals), being an L.A.-based band, has always been to avoid the ominous trap of falling in line with the current musical trends of the city and to stick to what they know and love.

When discussing their influences, the pair cite musicians ranging from Robert Fripp (King Crimson) to Steve Howe (Yes) to David Bowie, as well as name-dropping some of the most seminal bands of our time. Instead of attempting to emulate their forefathers, The Eye The Ear and The Arm's music channels, rather, the integrity and finesse of their influences to produce a sound that brings together the classic with the contemporary. “People’s first reaction on hearing us is to start listing bands from the seventies and eighties, whether it be the vocals or guitars,” says Green. “I think it’s great that we can keep that alive while still remaining totally relevant to what’s going on today.”

In the midst of rotating drummers and lending out their talents to other bands, Darin and Derek were lucky enough to enlist their friend JD Knotts of Amestory to fill in for drums., The trio spent months meticulously crafting material that would eventually come together to compile the band's first full-length with songs ranging from the fast-paced straight forward indie rock (“Sell This”) to the dynamic and languid eight-minute epic (“Passed Down”).

Darin's time in college studying finance and Derek's time dropping out of it to work full time, gave the pair the do-or-die push to pursue their music tenaciously as well as contributing to a wealth of experience which surfaces in much of Paths. "Working in a mall for three years in a wealthy suburb has changed my perception of probably almost everything,” Derek confesses. “Kind of disenchanted me...I think that comes across in our songs.”

These songs have now been laid to tape making up their debut, Paths. The Eye The Ear The Arm wrapped up recording and mixing in Los Angeles in mid 2007, with Alex Newport (Mars Volta, The Locust) and Mike Russell of Amestory behind the boards. Alex's talent and past production history, boasting many artists that the band had grown to admire over the years, helped "[make] the album much stronger and enjoyable to record." Equally as valuable to the creation of Paths was their relationship to Russell, a close friend and collaborator. “We really couldn’t have done this record without him,” shares Derek. “He's always been super patient with us and seems to really care about the project.” If anything, besides being a well crafted and energetic debut, Paths (out early 2008) is a result of concentrated patience. And the wait was well worth it…"
