Banjo Bones is the product of a musical generation that urgently plows forward while looking to the past for inspiration. While his roots lie firmly in the sensibilities of post-punk, his instrumentation is more reflective of his preoccupation with the primal nature of folkloric music, whether it be from his Latin American background as shown in the percussive drive of his songs, to the trans-like grooves of early bluegrass. Banjo Bones’ influences go deep while his ideas go wild and the result is an exquisitely twisted take on modern times through a lens of tradition and folklore.

Banjo Bones was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but lived a significant portion of his life in the US and other countries abroad. He played in a post-punk band in the Washington DC area in the early 90's and walked away from music in the mid 90's. In 2010 Banjo found his way back into music, and by this time his tastes and influences had grown much wider. His love of jazz, blues and bluegrass shaped his new sound, and his lyrical content became more mature and focused. His first release, Failed Ambitions, hit the market on September 20, 2012. NewMu Magazine reviewed the release in their September 2012 issue and had this to say: "Banjo Bones taps into the worlds of rock, blues, bluegrass and jazz to bring us songs of today in a voice of the past. Unpredictable, unexpected and wildly refreshing, Banjo Bones is a must listen for those fed up with formulaic and sterile music."

Banjo Bones lives in Sacramento, CA, where he runs indie label Boneyard Records and produces music by local talent. More information on Banjo Bones can be found in the Boneyard Records website www.boneyardrecords.com .
