Psychology professor and research scientist, Dr. John Kline, puts his music where his mouth is in the newly released CD, aptly entitled, "Instrumental Conditioning." In psychology, this refers to behaviors that become predictably patterned by consistent consequences.

Kline's choice and arrangement of several tunes invites metaphor as the CD opens with an alarm clock leading into the upbeat, retro Wakey Wakey, and ends (as nightly TV programming used to) with a heavy metal version of our National Anthem -- the only cover tune.

In between, Kline's compelling blend of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Ambient, and Celtic influences can best be described as New Age with Edge ... an artful blend of melodies, textures, and moods, peppered with blazing guitar work. The compilation skillfully intertwines energetic, bold musical statements and passionate, evocative ballads.

Kline has been nominated for numerous awards on the internet site Garageband, and was named Most Versatile and Prowar Champion on Guitarwar. Recently, Instrumental Conditioning was the #1 top-rated instrumental rock album on Rhapsody. Reviewers have compared his fluency and style to iconic guitarists Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Eric Johnson.

In an admittedly fuzzy past life, Kline was a professional lead guitar player. In addition to his formidable musical dexterity and inspired creative breadth, Kline handled virtually all of the composition, instruments, programming, engineering, production and prototype mastering in his modest, cottage industry home recording studio.

Instrumental Conditioning is available in CD format through CDBaby, and many major online distributors, including Rhapsody, iTunes and Napster. This highly engaging musical experience has broad appeal. As the title implies, listeners may find themselves reaching for it over and over again Read more on Last.fm.
