Although Livingston lives in the tropics, he was raised in the heartland. Born in the coal mining region of Kentucky and raised in Marion, IN, he first took up guitar at age six. He spent his teenage years playing in a band called The Juveniles absorbing a variety of influences, from the
Beatles and the Stones to Elvis, Hank Williams, Bob Marley and MuddyWaters. Once he reached the age of 18 he put music on the back burner and turned his attention to earning a more reliable living. He relocated to Chicago, studying engineering by day and working as a machinist by night. Eventually he started a business that manufactured precision parts for diesel engines, which subsequently occupied his energies for the next 22 years.

In the early ’90’s, Livingston began making regular sojourns to the Florida Keys, becoming so enamored with the area that he found himself gravitating there at every opportunity. Eventually he gave in to his wanderlust and decided to permanently relocate to tiny Summerland Key (Mile Marker 24 – thus the band name). The change in lifestyle prompted him to revisit his love of music, and after assembling Mile Marker 24, Livingston and company have become known as a Portable Party Machine supporting corporate events and weddings and their busy schedule in the tiki bars, hotspots and hang-outs that litter the Florida Keys. The band also tours and has enjoyed opportunities playing at venues with the likes of America, Little River Band, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams, Jr., Keith Urban, Mac McAnally, Jerry Jeff Walker, Cowboy Troy and Big and Rich. Over the years they have been live on The Today Show, CBS Early Show, Good Morning America, and The Weather Channel. Samantha Brown of the Travel Channel requested Howard and the band when she filmed in the Floirda Keys. Samantha got on stage and sang Howard’s award winning song “Blame It On The Margaritas”.

Howard Livingston and Mile Marker 24 Band received ‘Entertainer of the Year’ and ‘Band of the Year’ during the 2009 Trop Rock Music Awards. Howard’s CD “I’m Living On An Island” received ‘CD of the Year’ and the song by the same title won “Song of the Year”.

Howard has released five full length CD’s with all original music, one CD/DVD that was shot LIVE, and one short three track CD with his adult humor songs – property titled “Songs You Don’t Want Your Mom To Hear”.
