Prior to their 2003 tour of the USA, Makshow was one of Blender magazine's featured artists, contributing the track Semi-Automatic to the cover CD 'Future Icons: 11 of the hottest unsigned bands in America!'

Presently (August 2008), Makshow are showcasing their new material (from a selection of 25 songs written by their prolific singer-songwriter Paul Day in 2006/2007) at a number of high-profile London venues, most recently The Fly in New Oxford Street. Their current sound is described as, "A misfit, bastard child of the seventies and eighties: melodic indie-rock with a dirty disco glam twist and a drop of sweat from Keith Richards' brow; guitar pop-rock with a dark underbelly.", with lyrical content inspired by the phenomena of celebrity culture, reality television and tabloid-everything. The band cites such influences as The Beatles, David Bowie, Pulp, REM, The Rolling Stones and Roxy Music, whilst stating that their new songs are a sardonic-yet-lighthearted reflection of life in what they call 'New Britain Plc'.
