Daniel Hansen started toying with his Casio SK-1, which featured a one-second sampler, when he was seven years old. Armed with this instrument he started a band called "De Syngende Froskene" (The Singing Frogs), and recorded a full tape of songs backed with the beats of the Casio.

One of his biggest influences early on were The Prodigy, Vangelis and a-ha. Later he also discovered the ambient sounds of Biosphere and Brian Eno.
