Momo:tempo is independent creative, composer, producer and arty blighter, Timo Peach. And for Momo, music is a bit of traveling theatre.

VAGUE CREATIVE HISTORY

Timo Peach drew cartoons as a kid. He went to art college and started an initially hesitant relationship with the typeface Helvetica. He also discovered an old Moog Liberation and started an immediately enthusiastic relationship with electronic music.

He scrimped and saved and never bought enough gear and gigged and wrote and wrote some more and spent far too long mucking about with all manner of creative things and boobing about on stage with the old Moog and some old TVs, sooner than getting a proper job, wandering around picking up emotional souvenirs and recording a hundred qualifying albums back in his little home studio in a shed.

FANCIFUL ELECTRONIC STYLE

Today, Momo can still be found mucking about with all manner of creative things – much of which musically could be described as a little alternative, often electrically powered, involving beats and brass and sumptuous strings and a few baritone karaoke choruses and a bit of word verbiage over the top. And a very fair amount of theatre. Whatever that genre is. Some sort of electro filmscore.

The resulting musical shenanigans sounds like any number of things at once, and none of them. It sounds like only Momo could, after years of wandering around amiably.

But you could try packing gloriously cooky 80s Swiss musical stuntists Yello into a sturdy travel case with charming, romantic wit, The Divine Comedy. Chuck in a bit of grumpy young upstart Calvin Harris' clubby confidence along with just a light scattering of the drum and the bass, sit on the damned thing until it closes and toss it about on a luggage carousel for a while and you might just be getting somewhere.

SHAMBOLIC THEATRICAL SHOWS

Live, Momo means a noisy horn section, a bit of live skins-beating over the beats and a lot of pulling faces at the front. Plus groovy big tunes that will stay in your head. And a spot of almost half decent entertainment.

HEARTWARMING PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Mr Peach lives by the seaside with the lovely first lady of Momo. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
