Alex Robshaw was born in Montreal, Canada, from the brief union of two musicians active in the 1970’s and the 1980’s. Her musical training began when she was 5 years old, and she had her first studio session at 7. Robshaw performed many times on various stages during the course of her childhood and throughout adolescence, developing an insatiable appetite for the Art of Performance. She learned to capture the audience with her mere presence, a skill which would prove most beneficial in starting her solo career. Many experiences between 2004 and 2006 have lead Alex Robshaw to become the artist she is now: she performed at the 2004 festival d’été de Québec, was part of an indie-rock band for a year and a half, and was hired as a backup singer and keyboard player for British artist Benjamin Zephaniah in early 2006. In 2009, Alex Robshaw released her first EP, DeTales, a CD-DVD which explored the significance of details behind the concept of the “work in progress”. DeTales was created as the blueprint for what would become her art.

Released in November 2012, 1339 Crowder’s End is Alex Robshaw’s first LP. The powerful album stands as a token staple in 21rst-century music, innovatively gathering inspiration from the modernism movement of the early 1900s’, ‘90s alternative hardcore and heavy rock, funk, and trip hop. 1339 Crowder’s End is fully-loaded with collaborations with many of Montreal’s finest musicians, such as Alex Dray, Simon Petraki and Eddy Silva (Whiteroom), Rob Hutcheson, Mike Shetzer and Jeremy Seth Turowetz (Shaking Judy), Robert Scalia (Kamikaze Baby), Pablo Garcia-Rejon (The Hypocrites), Thibaut Porret (A Dead Motion), as well as appearances by Toronto’s The Noble Rogues frontman Shane Saunderson and Ottawa’s Pretty Little Death Machine well-known mastermind Tyler Black. With 1339 Crowder’s End, Robshaw raises the bar for any further Montreal release, taking over the city’s music scene with an overpowering sound and ground-breaking lyrical honesty and imagery, by her very distinct, unparalleled, refined way of using words.

With her newly-formed live band featuring Chris Brun Del Re on drums, Sean Martin on bass, and Julian Stirpe on guitar, Robshaw’s live performances now fiercely take a stand on a much higher level of entertainment. Robshaw breaks and redefines the boundaries of performance with her overwhelmingly sexy, refreshingly twisted, hypnotic stage personae, inviting audiences to let go, to lose themselves within her creative universe that she displays in its most grandiose form at every show, combining the intensity of her music with her unique mastery of the Art of Storytelling.
