Waitin' On 5 Lyrics

Underneath a car, turning on a wrench
Out there on a farm fixing that fence
It's like watching your team while you sit on the bench
Waiting on 5 to start on 6
Out in the summer in the AC
Two hours left when the hand's at 3
If you want an overtime, sorry I'm sick
Waiting on 5 to start on 6

Everybody watching that tick-tock-tick
The slower it goes the closer it gets
We'll be cracking and a-popping and a-giving it a twist
Waiting on 5 to start on 6
Hey-hey, alright
Yeah we're gonna have a little party tonight
Hey-hey, alright
Sipping and kissing somebody tonight

Sunday night comes and I'm getting depressed
Monday morning blues and my head is a mess
Friday rolls around and I'm getting that itch
Waiting on 5 to start on 6

Everybody watching that tick-tock-tick
The slower it goes the closer it gets
We'll be cracking and a-popping and a-giving it a twist
Waiting on 5 to start on 6, hey!

(Hey, son)
(Listen to me here)

I'd rather dig in a cooler man than dig in a ditch
I'm sick and damn tired of being somebody's bitch
I've been a-working all day, about time to quit
Waiting on 5 to start on 6

Everybody watching that tick-tock-tick
The slower it goes the closer it gets
We'll be cracking it, a-popping it, a-giving it a twist
Waiting on 5 to start on 6, uh

Waiting on 5
Waiting on 5
Waiting on 5 when it's time to quit
Waiting on 5
Waiting on 5
Waiting on 5, it gets started on 6

Everybody watching that tick-tock-tick
The slower it goes the closer it gets
We'll be cracking it, a-popping it, a-giving it a twist
Waiting on 5 to start on 6

Hey-hey, alright
Doing our time till it's time to quit
Hey-hey, alright
Waiting on 5 to get started on 6

The Missouri-born Chris Janson has electrified Nashville's country music scene. In fact, it only took two days at a local Nashville bar to incite a wave of interest from country music's biggest record labels. It could be his intense and vocally stunning performances, his remarkable ability to play the harmonica, or the depth of his songs, but there is something remarkable about this 21 year-old phenomenon. Chris' budding music career has even taken him to the big screen, when legendary film director Johnathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Stop Making Sense) invited him to participate in "Heart of Gold" a documentary capturing Neil Young's 2-night performance at the Historic Ryman Auditorium. Asked to describe his sound, Chris replies that it combines "elements of rock & roll, folk, blues, roots music, and vintage country." Nashville's critics been buzzing with excitement about this emerging star, and have even likened him to a combination of Mick Jagger and Hank Williams Sr. Chris readily acknowledges his influences, but he has a confidence in his identity that transcends his age. "I want to sound like Chris Janson," he says, "It's just what you see on stage, that's what you'll get on my record. I'm not afraid to push the limits. I don't have a set list at my shows, I just play songs. It's all about soul and feel". And as all great country music stars and rock & roll legends are marked by their authenticity and originality, Chris Janson is on that same path toward greatness. Read more on Last.fm.
