Phantom Mistress used to be a musical diary of Eija Risen, focusing on melancholy and female beauty. Upon restoration in 2016, it's become a whole new entity that led to foundation of Thanatonaut.

The idea of Phantom Mistress has been conceived in July 2012, during a trip to Kraków. Initially as a poetic concept inspired by female beauty, it has quickly evolved into a musical project, taking the style of "v0id28.suicide" and "v0id55.melancholy" tracks by Risen v0id further. The only "real" Phantom Mistress' album - "Evoke" - has been started about that time, but remained in development for 23 months, due to inability to reconnect with the initial inspiration.

In the meantime, smaller essential projects like "Dreams of Laura" series, "Paradise of the Damned" series and "A Tale for Justine" album were also released under Phantom Mistress moniker, making it a collective of smaller sub-projects.

The project has been finished in 2015 and restored after a year with a complete sound overhaul. Dreams of Laura series has been compiled into a box set in November 2016. Paradise of the Damned, after turning space-themed black metal / electronica, in August 2017. All the other releases will be compiled into third and the last box-set in the future.
