Mentor Beats is the trading name for internationally acclaimed music producer and audio engineer Amit Bajaj aka Mentor. With more than 15 years experience in the industry, Mentor Beats has established itself as one of the most credible and pioneering names in Urban and Asian music around the world.
Born in Kenya, Mentor grew up in West London and started learning various musical instruments as well as DJing and rapping. After gaining an Audio Engineering Diploma at the SAE Institute of Technology, he went on to produce hits with Super-Producer Rishi Rich.
In 2001, he moved to Tanzania, East Africa and set up Poa Records, promoting Swahili Hip Hop and R&B artists including T.I.D, Zig Zag Kru, Complex (R.I.P) and Big Dogg Posse, as well as working with top East African artists like Lady JD, Mr Nice, Ray C, Suma G, AY and Majizee. Mentor went on to be Nominated Best Producer at the Tanzanian Music Awards 2003, Poa Records artist T.I.D. won Best Artist Category and his album "Sauti Ya Dhahabu" (Produced by Mentor) won Best Album.
In 2003, Mentor returned to the UK to set up his recording studio in London and has since acquired production, remixing and engineering credits for the likes of Jay Sean, Timbaland and Magoo ft Missy Elliot, Craig David, Sugababes, Nitin Sawhney, Jon B, Juggy D and many more. Mentor has also scored TV ad's for McDonalds and Sharwoods, plus title music for TV programs including Nickelodeon's "Control Freaks".
Apart from music production, Mentor Beats has been involved in Training Courses and Workshops in Music Production for various organisations including Point Blank, London School of Sound, BBC Blast, Fitzrovia Youth In Action and Actiondog.
Forming Mentor Kolektiv in 2004, the producer independently released "Mentor Kolektiv Mixtape Vol 1" and produced the band’s critically acclaimed debut album "Broke”, released in November 2005 on 2point9 Records.
Since 2006, Mentor Beats has made headway into the radio industry, presenting and producing shows on BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network.
2008 saw the release of "Overdraft" the Mixtape. A collection of Remixes, Refixes and Previews, available exclusively online. It showcased the production skills of Mentor Beats as well as a sneak peek into things to come.
2009 saw Mentor Beats involved in many projects including singles like "Kurri Canada Di" with DJ Dips, "Money" and "Freedom" with DJ Pinkz, plus the expansion of Training Courses and Workshops around the UK.
2010 was an eventful year with remixes for Menis and DJ Dips making a huge impact as well as Mentor's Remix for Sugababes hit single "About A Girl" being performed at the UK Asian Music Awards. Mentor Beats also joined forces with The Truth and Bobby Wonda for the live showcase "The Truth and the Band", touring the UK with their smash hit single "Sharabi".
The forthcoming album by Mentor Beats is underway and set for release later this year on Organised Rhyme. Mentor Beats is now available to host your event along side the worlds hottest new events team i-Play.
